The Windows Section Overview
The Windows Section, spanning approximately 2 square miles, is renowned for hosting some of the park’s most impressive arches. Key highlights include North Window, South Window, Turret Arch, and Double Arch. This area is also celebrated as one of the park's most picturesque locales.
Accessible Trails
From the parking lot, several easy trails provide access to all the arches. A short gravel trail, less than a mile round-trip, leads to North Window, South Window, and Turret Arch. Alternatively, there is a slightly longer primitive trail, about a mile in length, starting at the South Window viewpoint that circles around the Windows.
Visitor Experiences
Recent visitors appreciated the ease of the trails and their proximity to the parking lot. However, they noted the presence of large crowds. To avoid the throngs of sightseers, it is recommended to visit the Windows early in the morning, preferably before 8 a.m. Additionally, taking the primitive trail to the backside of the arches offers a break from the crowds.
Accessibility and Directions
The Windows Area is accessible free of charge with park admission. It is situated 9 miles north along the park road and 2.5 miles east on the Windows road. The drive from the park entrance takes approximately 25 minutes. For detailed information on trails, visitors are encouraged to consult the official NPS website.
