If you want to eat your way through a neighborhood while soaking up a good helping of history, you can't beat the North End. With historic sites like Paul Revere's home and the Old North Church, history buffs can dive deep into the events of the Revolutionary War. Meanwhile, foodies will relish the endless array of restaurants, cafes, and bakeries.

I have a few go-to spots every time I visit the North End:

Classic Thin Crust Pizza

For classic thin crust pizza, I always visit Regina Pizzeria. I recommend getting pepperoni and extra cheese for the best experience.

When I'm in the mood for a Sicilian slice, I head to Galleria Umberto. Be forewarned, Galleria Umberto is cash-only.

For the ongoing Mike's vs Modern debate, in my opinion, Modern wins for the best cannoli in town. Just remember to bring cash!

Yes, there are several companies offering North End food tours. While I haven't been on any personally, Off the Eaten Path is considered one of the best tours in Boston.

Other Activities in the North End

If you're into Italian festivals and parades, you should visit in August. It seems like every week there's a celebration for one saint or another. For instance, the Feast of Saint Anthony happens on the last Sunday in August and involves a 10-hour procession of carrying a Saint Anthony statue through the streets. It's quite a scene.

Overlooked Attractions in the North End

While food is a big draw, there are some interesting shops in the neighborhood. For example, I AM Books on Salem Street is a charming independent bookstore with a special focus on Italian books. Additionally, Christopher Columbus Waterfront Park is a great spot to hang out on a warm day while enjoying views of the harbor.
