Plan Ahead
For the best views, it's advised that you visit just after opening or just before sunset. If you'd like to enjoy the sunset from the tower, plan on arriving 30 to 45 minutes before sunset to ensure you have enough time to get through the elevator line and up to the top.
Overview
More than 1.7 million people visit Willis Tower's Skydeck Chicago each year, and it's easy to understand why. Located on the 103rd floor – nine floors higher than 360 CHICAGO – of the 110-story Willis Tower (the third-tallest building in North America after One World Trade Center and Central Park Tower), Skydeck Chicago offers breathtaking views of the city. On a clear day, you may be able to see beyond Chicago's borders to Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, and other parts of Illinois.
Highlights
The Ledge
The highlight for most visitors is the Ledge. Extending 4.3 feet beyond the building's exterior, this platform is made entirely of glass – even the floor. The video screens that simulate standing 103 floors above other Chicago attractions, such as Wrigley Field and Millennium Park, are also popular. However, long lines quickly form for Skydeck Chicago, so it's recommended to arrive early or purchase a Chicago CityPASS, which covers expedited admission. Alternatively, you can pay extra for expedited entry, featuring an express line to the elevators.
Location and Accessibility
Willis Tower and its Skydeck are situated above South Wacker Drive on the western edge of the Loop. The nearby Quincy/Wells L station, several bus stops, and a parking garage provide convenient access.
Hours
The Skydeck is open daily from March through May 23 between 9 a.m. and 10 p.m. Starting May 24, it's open Sunday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., and on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Tickets
General admission costs $32 for adults and $24 for children ages 3 to 11, while expedited entry starts at $55 per person. Children 2 and younger can enter for free. Timed tickets are required, and it is recommended to purchase them in advance. Standard entry fees are covered by Go City Chicago Cards. Inside Willis Tower, you'll find restaurants, shops, and restrooms.
