Introduction to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Beating out NYC for the location of choice, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is one of Cleveland's most popular attractions. Since its opening in 1995, more than 9 million visitors, including musicians and celebrities, have walked through its doors. The museum houses a variety of permanent and temporary exhibits, as well as special collections and artifacts from some of the greatest rock 'n' roll musicians of all time, such as The Beatles, Metallica, Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, and many more. The museum also hosts lectures, films, panel discussions, and live rock music performances. However, the museum's most celebrated event is the annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, held every April.

Visitor Experience

You don't need to be a die-hard fan of rock music to enjoy the nation's only Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Recent visitors have praised the museum's vast collection of memorabilia and the historical context provided by each exhibit. Highly recommended are the short films and inductee videos, as well as the outdoor patio, café, and museum shop. However, some caution that this may not be an ideal place to bring youngsters unfamiliar with rock 'n' roll legends. Be sure to call ahead if there is a particular exhibit you wish to see, as displays are constantly changing.

Location and Accessibility

The museum is located in downtown Cleveland, right on the shores of Lake Erie. It is easily accessible via public transportation, taxi, car, and by foot. The L-line trolley, the Blue and Green rail lines, and multiple buses stop nearby. Tickets can be bought online and printed at home or purchased directly at the museum. Ticket prices are $22 for adults and $13 for children ages 9 to 12; children 8 and under are admitted free of charge. The museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with extended hours until 9 p.m. on Wednesdays. From Memorial Day through Labor Day, the museum also extends its hours until 9 p.m. on Saturdays. For more information or to purchase tickets online, visit the museum's website.
