Precautions

The Desert View Watchtower is situated at an elevation of over 7,000 feet, so take the altitude into consideration. Stay hydrated and take it slow if you’re not used to high elevations. Wear comfortable shoes as you’ll be doing quite a bit of walking. The stairs inside the tower can be narrow and steep, so watch your footing. The weather can be unpredictable, so check the forecast and bring appropriate clothing. Also, remember that the Grand Canyon area can become quite crowded during peak seasons; plan to arrive early to avoid the largest crowds.

Parking is available near the watchtower, but it can fill up quickly during peak times, so consider visiting earlier or later in the day for the best parking availability.
