Introduction to GRAAMA
Through recorded oral histories, memorabilia, exhibits, pop-up displays, and special events, the Grand Rapids African American Museum & Archives (GRAAMA) serves to share the stories of the Black experience in Grand Rapids.
Current and Future Space
Though it currently occupies a relatively small space measuring 2,100 square feet, GRAAMA aims to relocate to a larger, contemporary museum exceeding 13,000 square feet in downtown Grand Rapids. Until this move, visitors can explore the intimate space and learn about the notable contributions of Black leaders in the city.
Walking Tour and Additional Attractions
Beyond the museum walls, travelers can also take part in a 2-mile walking tour that delves into Grand Rapids' civil rights history, enhanced by an accompanying podcast.
Visitor Feedback
While some past visitors have noted the museum's compact size, many still highly recommend visiting due to the extensive knowledge available.
Visitor Information
The museum is open from Tuesday to Saturday, from noon to 5 p.m. Admission is free, but donations are welcomed. For additional information, visitors are encouraged to check the museum's official website.
