Overview of the Sunsphere

Constructed for the 1982 World's Fair, the 270-foot-tall Sunsphere offers a remarkable view of the city from its observation deck on the fourth floor. As one of the few remaining structures from the 1982 World's Fair, it features informative displays and photos related to this historic event. Additionally, visitors can enjoy a 360-degree view of the original 1982 World's Fair site (now World's Fair Park), downtown Knoxville, the Tennessee River, the University of Tennessee, and the Smoky Mountains.

Many visitors note that the Sunsphere is worth a visit, primarily for the photo opportunities and the exhibits detailing the history of Knoxville and its World's Fair. While the low entry cost is appreciated, some reviewers advise that this attraction isn't necessarily a "must-do" in Knoxville.

Hours of Operation

The Sunsphere, situated in World's Fair Park, is open during the following hours:

• Monday through Friday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Saturday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Sunday: Noon to 4 p.m.

Admission Information

Admission fees are $10 for adults and $5 for children aged 12 and younger. It is recommended to purchase tickets online in advance. When booking, you will select a 30-minute window for your visit. Tickets can be purchased on the Sunsphere page of the Visit Knoxville website.
