Located on the original site of the Stax Records studio, the Stax Museum of American Soul Music honors legendary American soul artists, particularly those who recorded at Stax. The museum houses over 2,000 artifacts, interactive exhibits, films, and galleries.

Notable Exhibits

One of the standout pieces in the museum's collection is Isaac Hayes' custom Cadillac Eldorado. This unique vehicle, acquired through Hayes' renegotiated deal with Stax in 1972, boasts unusual amenities such as a TV, a refrigerated minibar, and a 24-carat gold exterior trim.

Visitor Experience

Visitors have praised the quality of the memorabilia on display and the introductory film shown at the beginning of the self-guided tour. Although some reviewers noted the abundance of information to read, they described the experience as "fascinating."

Interactive Features

Visitor Information

Situated south of downtown Memphis, the Stax Museum of American Soul Music welcomes visitors from Tuesday through Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and remains closed on Mondays. General admission is priced at $15 for visitors aged 13 to 62, $12 for children aged 7 to 12 as well as veterans, military service members, and AAA members, while admission is free for children aged 6 and younger.
