The Napa Valley Wine Train
The Napa Valley Wine Train is one of Napa Valley's most unique and convenient attractions for visitors. It's also considered one of the top Napa Valley tours. This train allows car-less visitors to traverse 36 miles of scenic, vineyard-lined terrain, while also serving as a restaurant offering gourmet meals paired with some of Napa's renowned wine selections. This is not your typical modern Amtrak experience. Instead, you'll discover restored, century-old train cars featuring charming, old-fashioned interiors with tufted velvet seating, mahogany paneling, and etched glass partitions. The train offers various seating options, including several lounges and dining rooms, such as the Vista Dome, a dining car with arched windows providing panoramic views of the valley.
Tours
Types of Tours
Your experience on the train, including where you sit and the duration of your trip, depends on the type of tour you book. The Napa Valley Wine Train offers multiple tour options ranging from an "express" ride of around 2.5 to 3 hours with lunch or dinner, to an extensive six-hour journey with stops at various vineyards. There’s even a murder mystery dinner theater package with several different storylines to choose from.
Guest Feedback
Recent passengers generally rave about their experience on the Napa Valley Wine Train. While the experience is admittedly pricey, visitors have praised the quality of the food, excellent service, and stunning views of the vineyards. Some, however, noted the cost might be a bit steep for the amount of wine included in a package, so it's wise to budget extra if you plan on enjoying multiple glasses of wine during your trip.
