Step Back in Time at Agecroft Hall

Agecroft Hall offers a remarkable journey into the past. Originally constructed in England in the 1370s, it features classic Tudor architecture with its iconic white exterior walls interlaced with dark wooden beams. This Lancanshire home was occupied for roughly 400 years until a fire caused significant damage in the 1890s.

A Transatlantic Journey

In the 1920s, Richmond businessman T.C. Williams, Jr. acquired the property. He had it carefully dismantled, shipped across the Atlantic, and reassembled on the banks of the James River in Richmond, Virginia.

A Living Testament to English Heritage

Today, Agecroft Hall stands as a living museum of English life. Visitors can tour the manor's interior and stroll through its distinctly English gardens. The manor offers a variety of specialized tours that delve into topics like marriage traditions in Tudor times and dining customs during the Elizabethan era.

Events and Festivities

Agecroft Hall also plays host to numerous events, including the annual summer Shakespeare festival, art shows, and the "Yuletides at Agecroft: Christmas Open House." During these events, visitors can see the house adorned in festive holiday decorations and learn about Christmas traditions from the 1600s, 1800s, and 1900s, as portrayed by costumed actors.

Visitor Experiences

Travelers consistently praise the manor and gardens as wonderful places to visit. They are particularly impressed by the knowledgeable staff. However, if you're planning to attend an event, it's advisable to arrive early, as Agecroft events can attract large crowds, especially during Yuletides.

Location

Agecroft Hall and Gardens is situated southwest of Carytown. The most convenient ways to get there are by biking, driving, or using a rideshare service.

Hours

Agecroft is open from Tuesday to Sunday, noon to 5 p.m., with the last admission at 4 p.m. From January to February, it operates from Thursday to Sunday, maintaining the same hours. The hall is closed on select holidays.

Tickets

Admission to both the house and gardens costs $12 for adults and $8 for students. Children aged 6 and younger can enter for free. If you prefer to tour only the gardens, tickets are available at half price.
