Bearfence Mountain

Introduction

Bearfence Mountain offers two distinct hiking routes, the Bearfence Rock Scramble Hike and the Bearfence Viewpoint Hike. Bearfence Rock Scramble Hike

Accessibility

Both hikes begin with a short connector on the Appalachian Trail. The Bearfence Mountain trailhead is conveniently located between Thornton Gap Entrance Station and the Swift Run Gap Entrance Station, approximately 5.5 miles south of the Harry F. Byrd, Sr. Visitor Center on Skyline Drive. The trailhead features its own parking area and is accessible year-round to those who have paid the National Park's entrance fee.
