Introduction to Steamboat Gondola
Situated at the base of Steamboat Ski Resort, the Steamboat Gondola is one of the area's most popular activities. During ski season, lines can be long for skiers waiting for a ride in the eight-passenger gondola to the top of Mount Werner. In the summer, cyclists use the gondola to transport their bikes to upper bike trails. However, many visitors simply enjoy the scenic ride and panoramic views.
Activities and Amenities
Dining at Oasis Sundeck
Travelers can grab a bite to eat at the mountaintop restaurant, the Oasis Sundeck. Despite the pricey menu items, many visitors recommend dining there due to the quality of the food and the stunning vistas it offers.
Vista Nature Trail
You can also take a short hike on the mile-long Vista Nature Trail, an activity that's covered by gondola admissions. This trail provides a perfect opportunity to enjoy nature and soak in panoramic views.
Visitor Experience
Previous skiers have complimented the helpful crew on the gondola, noting that they are quick to assist in loading and unloading. However, some visitors reported long lines in the mornings and on holidays, which can be a drawback.
Operational Details
The gondola operates daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. between mid-June and early September. Between Sept. 8 and Oct. 1, it welcomes visitors on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Ticket costs vary by day, so it's best to check the resort's gondola page for up-to-date pricing.
Transportation and Parking
You can take the complimentary bus to the base area, or park for free in the Knoll Lot across from the skier drop-off area. Both options offer convenient access to the Steamboat Gondola.
