For skiing and snowboarding in the Poconos, head to Blue Mountain Resort in Palmerton (about 11 miles south of Jim Thorpe). The resort boasts the highest vertical in Pennsylvania at 1,082 feet and features 40 trails with various terrains and lengths. Group and private lessons for kids and adults are available, and previous visitors say this is a great place to learn how to ski.
