Exploring the Henry Morrison Flagler Museum
Located just across the Intracoastal Waterway from downtown West Palm Beach, the Henry Morrison Flagler Museum offers a glimpse into the opulence of the Gilded Age. Completed in 1902 as a wedding present for Henry Flagler's third wife, Whitehall (as it was then named) was a grand Palm Beach estate with 75 rooms, exemplifying the beaux-arts style. Today, this National Historic Landmark is open to the public for self-guided tours, rotating period-appropriate exhibitions, and special programs.
Museum Highlights
Visitors can enjoy temporary exhibits on various topics, from art nouveau to the history of bicycles. Wander through the first and second floors of Whitehall, explore the grounds, and visit the Flagler Kenan Pavilion, which houses Flagler's Railcar No. 91.
Shopping and Souvenirs
Don't miss the on-site store, which offers unique local gifts and history books. Visitors often commend the museum for its well-maintained home and grounds and the rich glimpse it provides into Palm Beach history.
