The High Museum of Art

The High Museum of Art's aesthetics begin with the physical structure itself. The Richard Meier-designed building is covered in white porcelain that is mirrored on its interior. This unique design features winding walking paths and an intriguing light system at the top. The Renzo Piano-designed expansion complements Meier's original façade with white aluminum panels and a roof that filters sunlight inside.

Collections

One noteworthy part of the museum's collection is the 19th- and 20th-century American art, including pieces by Mary Cassatt, John Singleton Copley, Frederick Kensett, Harriet Hosmer, Edmonia Lewis, John Singer Sargent, and Henry Ossawa Tanner. Additionally, the museum houses an impressive collection of European works from the 1300s to the 1900s, as well as artifacts from Africa and the African diaspora such as masks, figurative sculptures, and ceramics.

Hours

The museum and museum shop are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Tickets

Admission for visitors aged 6 and older costs $23.50, while children 5 and younger can enter for free. Tickets provide access to both permanent and special exhibits, as well as on-site amenities. Some events may require preregistration and additional fees.
