Stunning Vistas and Unique Formations at Sunrise Point
This scenic point offers not only breathtaking views but also some of the more imaginatively named formations in the park. Visitors can marvel at the Boat Mesa and the Sinking Ship, set against the magnificent Pink Cliffs of the Aquarius Plateau. Boat Mesa, topped by the durable rock known as "The Conglomerate at Boat Mesa," stands high above the hoodoos of Fairyland Canyon at an elevation of 8,073 feet. Don't worry; these names will make perfect sense once you see the formations for yourself.
Trail Highlights and Visitor Experiences
Queens Garden Trail
Sunrise Point is the starting point for the 1.8-mile Queens Garden Trail, which descends into an area of hoodoos presided over by the Queen Victoria hoodoo, hence the trail’s name. This trail is also the concluding point for the Navajo Loop and Queen Victoria combination, a highly favored hike. Previous visitors have praised this lookout as a perfect spot for witnessing spectacular sunrises. However, if you miss sunrise, don't worry—the beauty and colors are mesmerizing at any time of the day, according to recent travelers.
