For a fun "vintage Vegas" experience, head to the second floor of the D Las Vegas Casino to play the Sigma Derby mechanical horse betting game. It's more than 30 years old and the last of its kind in Las Vegas! – Reannon Muth
Fremont Street used to be filled with classic, but under-visited casinos such as the Golden Nugget and the Pioneer Club. Today, this area in downtown Las Vegas is revitalized and ready to draw attention away from the Strip.
Things to Do on Fremont Street
Viva Vision Light Show
This renowned five-block pedestrian walkway is home to the "Viva Vision Light Show," showcased on a barrel vault canopy that spans 1,375 feet above the street. Featuring music from artists like Shakira and Imagine Dragons, the light show boasts 16.4 million pixels and a 600,000-watt sound system. These captivating six- to eight-minute displays occur every hour between 6 p.m. and 2 a.m., with music and free nightly concerts happening across three different stages in between shows.
SlotZilla Zip Line
Another highlight is the SlotZilla Zip line, which towers up to 11 stories above the pedestrian area. Thrill-seekers can glide high above Fremont Street.
Golden Nugget Casino
The Golden Nugget is more than just a casino; it features a 200,000-gallon shark tank and the "Hand of Faith" – the largest golden nugget in existence.
Retro Neon Signs
For those interested in the city's retro neon signs, Fremont Street does not disappoint. Notable signs include the 90-foot-tall neon cowboy known as Vegas Vic.
Though Fremont Street offers a refreshing alternative to the Strip, be prepared for the high levels of noise from the music.
Hours and Tickets
The Fremont Street Experience is accessible 24/7. If visiting during the day, consider stopping by the Mob Museum, which is within walking distance. SlotZilla's operating hours vary based on which zip line you choose but generally run from noon to 2 a.m. daily.
Visitation Tips
You can visit Fremont Street at any time, though it's advisable to stay alert after dark. Entry to the area is free, but some attractions under the "Viva Vision" canopy may have additional costs. The Fremont Street Experience spans five city blocks from Las Vegas Boulevard East to 8th Street and from Ogden Street South to Carson. The most convenient way to get to Fremont Street is by taking the Deuce bus.
