Exploring the Seven Sacred Pools
Within the Kipahulu District of Haleakala National Park, hikers can discover the Seven Sacred Pools, also known as the Pools of 'Ohe'o, located in 'Ohe'o Gulch. Although often referred to as seven pools, this area boasts several pools, each fed by a small waterfall cascading down the gulch. Visitors can reach the area by taking a half-mile hike on the Kuloa Point Trail from the visitor center.
Sights and Restrictions
Along the hike, visitors will be treated to views of the pools, ocean vistas, and archaeological sites. It's important to note that while the pools can be viewed from the trail, swimming is not permitted.
Water Levels and Best Time to Visit
The water levels of the pools vary depending on recent rainfall, with them potentially being nearly dry at times. The wet season, from November to March, is the ideal time to visit to fully appreciate the area's natural beauty. Moreover, the Seven Sacred Pools hike makes for an easy addition to the nearby Pipiwai Trail.
