For snorkelers who don't want to stray too far from Maui, Turtle Town is an ideal spot. This area is located near Maluaka Beach, between Nahuna Point and Black Sand Beach in southwestern Maui. Turtle Town earns its name from the large population of Hawaiian green sea turtles that inhabit the region. Additionally, the reef area is protected from the island's trade winds by Haleakala, resulting in relatively calm waters. This makes Turtle Town a popular add-on destination for many Molokini Crater snorkeling and diving excursions. It is also renowned as an ideal sea kayaking location.

If you prefer to encounter turtles without an organized excursion, Maluaka Beach or Little Beach in Makena State Park often feature green sea turtles, both of which are located less than a mile apart.
