Welcome to Big Lagoon State Park
Sitting across from Perdido Key and about 5 miles northeast of Perdido Key State Park, Big Lagoon State Park welcomes visitors and wildlife alike with ample outdoor space – more than 700 acres. Activities include boating, fishing, camping, and hiking. Birders appreciate the park's diverse feathered inhabitants, especially the migratory birds that stop by in the fall and spring. (The Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail runs through the park.) Paddlers also appreciate the park's kayak rental options and its status as a launch point for the 1,515-mile Florida Circumnavigational Saltwater Paddling Trail, Florida's longest sea kayaking trail.
Visitor Experiences
Observation Tower
Recent travelers praise the park's three-story observation tower, which allows for easy bird-watching and stunning views of the sunset.
Family Activities
Families, in particular, enjoy collecting hermit crabs, while the walking trails at the boat launch delight visitors of all ages.
Insect Awareness
Given the park's coastal location, insects can put a damper on your visit, according to some reviewers. You'll want to plan accordingly by wearing and bringing bug repellent.
