Pensacola Beach: A Dual Experience on Santa Rosa Island
Pensacola Beach outlines the Santa Rosa barrier island and offers visitors two very different beach experiences. On the Gulf side, visitors are treated to unparalleled Gulf Coast views, as well as a powdery white shoreline and emerald waters. The soft sands that ribbon the Santa Rosa Sound side of the island are popular among families due to their gentle waves and access to a boardwalk filled with fun shops and restaurants.
Distinct Beach Areas
Although the entire island's beaches are collectively known as Pensacola Beach, individual stretches have their own names. Quietwater Beach, located on the sound side, stretches from the Portofino Boardwalk to the Pensacola Beach bridge tollbooth. This area is family-friendly, with lifeguard protection and its notably calm waters. Casino Beach, located on the Gulf side, features a host of amenities such as restrooms, changing rooms, lifeguards, and a fishing pier. This beach is easily found just south of the intersection of Via de Luna and Fort Pickens Road.
Visitor Experiences and Accessibility
Most visitors describe Pensacola Beach as a beautiful and relaxing destination, particularly in the winter when dolphin sightings are frequent. Parents appreciate the family-friendly vibe, and the nearby dog beach and bike trail are additional perks. Pensacola Beach is located on Santa Rosa Island and is accessible by crossing two bridges via U.S. Route 98 and Florida State Road 399. For more information, visitors can check out the island's tourism website.
