Introduction

Home to one of the largest public collections of Auguste Rodin's work outside of Paris, the Rodin Museum boasts almost 150 pieces, including bronzes, marbles, and plasters created by the renowned artist. This extensive collection represents every phase of Rodin's illustrious career, with highlights such as The Kiss, Rodin's famous sculpture depicting two lovers.

The Architecture and Garden

The Beaux-Arts building housing the museum is a marvel in itself, designed by French architect Paul Cret. Complementing the architectural beauty is a formal French garden, conceptualized by landscape designer Jacques Gréber. This picturesque outdoor space features eight of Rodin's sculptures, including The Thinker and The Gates of Hell, the latter of which was a defining project in Rodin's career. Recent visitors note that the museum is small but well worth the visit—especially given that admission to the Rodin Museum is included with your ticket to the nearby Philadelphia Museum of Art, and vice versa.

Getting There

The Rodin Museum is situated on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, directly across the street from the Barnes Foundation. The museum is less than a mile south of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, making it about a 15-minute walk. For those arriving via public transportation, the PHLASH bus provides convenient access, with stop No. 8 right near the museum.

Hours and Admission

The museum operates on a Friday through Monday schedule, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It employs a pay-what-you-wish admission policy, with a suggested amount of $15 for adults and $7 for students with ID. Children 18 and younger are admitted free of charge.
