Special Activities at Hadlock Field

A variety of special activities such as fireworks or "Bark in the Park" games, where attendees can bring their dogs and sit in a designated pet area, add an extra touch of excitement. Keep an eye out for these events when booking tickets. – Mariya Greeley

Hadlock Field: A Hub of Portland Pride

Hadlock Field is the home ground for the beloved Portland Sea Dogs, the local minor league baseball team. Named after Edson Hadlock Jr., who coached baseball at Portland High School from 1950 to 1978, the field reflects the city's rich baseball culture.

In 2003, the Sea Dogs became an affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, leading to the inclusion of features reminiscent of Boston's Fenway Park, such as the "Maine Monster," an outfield built to mimic the iconic Green Monster. Additionally, Red Sox players recovering from injuries may sometimes play at Hadlock Field during their rehabilitation. Despite these influences, Hadlock Field retains its unique Maine charm—a lighthouse rises from the centerfield fence when a Sea Dogs player hits a homerun or the team wins a game. Concession stands offer local craft beers, lobster rolls, and lobster popcorn (popcorn mixed with chunks of real Maine lobster). A popular game day treat is the Sea Dog Biscuit, which is vanilla ice cream sandwiched between two chocolate chip cookies. The stadium seats fewer than 7,500, ensuring that there are hardly any bad views.

Family-Friendly Environment

Hadlock Field is particularly great for families with children, thanks to its reasonable ticket prices, engaging programming between innings, and the ever-popular mascot, Slugger. However, it’s advisable to plan ahead for parking if you plan to drive.

Tickets

Ticket prices fluctuate based on seating choice and attendees' ages. Generally, tickets are about $14 to $25 per person, and purchasing them before game day can result in savings. Children under the age of 2 can attend for free. For those willing to splurge, Gifford's Pavilion offers seating for around $50, including an all-you-can-eat buffet. Game times can vary.
