Introduction to Sesame Place
Sesame Place is a kid-oriented destination inspired by the "Sesame Street" TV series. This attraction features a neighborhood constructed to resemble the show's set, including recognizable locations like Hooper's Store and Big Bird's Nest. Children can have their photos taken with some of their favorite puppet characters or hear them tell stories.
Rides and Attractions
Sesame Place boasts various themed rides, such as Super Grover’s Box Car Derby, a family-friendly roller coaster, and the Sunny Day Carousel. Additionally, the park offers numerous water slides and consistently stages live parades and shows featuring beloved characters like Bert, Ernie, and the rest of the gang. Multiple on-site eateries are available, including Oscar's Grouchy Grub and Grover's Grill.
Water Park Features
Despite the "Sesame Street" trappings, Sesame Place is essentially a water park. It was adapted from the former SeaWorld Aquatica San Diego water park.
Operating Hours
Sesame Place San Diego is located in Chula Vista, approximately 17 miles southeast of downtown San Diego. It is typically open daily during the summer from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., though it stays open later on some evenings. During the school year, it operates from 10 a.m. or 12 p.m. to 5 or 6 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, and during the weeks around Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks.
