The Contemporary Austin Locations

Laguna Gloria

The first thing to realize when planning a visit to The Contemporary Austin is that the art museum actually occupies two separate sites that are miles apart. The west side location, Laguna Gloria, spans 14 acres and houses the Art School at Laguna Gloria. It is a beloved location, celebrated for its art-in-nature setting. Additionally, this site includes the historic 1916 Driscoll Villa and the Betty and Edward Marcus Sculpture Park. Most of the sculptures at Laguna Gloria are outdoors, making it an ideal spot for modern art enthusiasts who will also appreciate its proximity to Lake Austin.

Jones Center

Set on the corner of Congress Avenue and 7th Street, the Jones Center is hard to miss, thanks to the neon script glowing from Jim Hodges's steel installation, "With Liberty and Justice for All (A Work in Progress)." The Jones Center spans 8,000 square feet and features two floors, including the Moody Rooftop, a favorite for its spectacular views. The facility offers a robust calendar filled with exhibitions and films.

Accessibility and Location

The museum's Laguna Gloria location, approximately 5 miles northwest of downtown Austin near Mayfield Park and Preserve, is not easily accessible via public transit. However, parking is available at the museum and on nearby streets.

Laguna Gloria
