Founded in 1938 by former actor Chester "Cactus Slim" Moorten and his wife, Patricia, the Moorten Botanical Garden spans an acre and is both a privately owned botanical garden and plant nursery. Besides managing the botanical garden, the couple also gained recognition for designing gardens for notable figures in Palm Springs, including Walt Disney and Frank Sinatra.
